• Ideas to use when practicing kindergarten skills at home!

    *Sight Word Practice 

    **Reading and/or listening to stories and answering 'wh' questions about the story (ie: Who were the characters?  Where was the setting?  What was the problem?  How did they solve the problem?)

    ** Practicing decoding words with CVC patterns (ie: cat), CCVC patterns (ie: stop), CVCC patterns (ie: past) and also words with digraphs (ie: sh, ch, th,)

    **Practice writing simple sentences.  Don't forget to start with a capital letter, put finger spaces in between words and end with punctuation.

    **Practicing composition and decomposition of numbers 0-10.   In other words, practice number bonds from 0-10--and writing addition and subtraction equations.0-20

    **Counting sets of objects from 0-20 and writing the number for the set.

    **Sequence and write numbers 0-20.

    **Count aloud by 1's and 10's to 100.

    **Identify 'teen numbers' as a group of 'one ten' and so many ones. (ie: looking at 14 and saying "One ten and four ones")  Additionally, being able to look at a group of objects with tens/ones and counting tens/ones to identify a number.
