    Eligibility for Membership Consideration
     
    All juniors and seniors who have earned a cumulative grade point average of 92 (unweighted) or above are sent letters informing them of having met the academic criterion for membership, and inviting them to continue the process of being considered for membership in the Allegany Limestone Chapter of the National Honor Society.  Interested candidates will complete and submit a NHS Candidate Form (must be signed by student and parent), a Student Activity Informaiton Form, a NHS Candidate Recommenation Form (sent directly from reference to advisor), and NHS Candidate Character Rating Forms.
     
    SELECTION OF MEMBERS
    The final selection of members to this chapter shall be by a majority vote of the Faculty
    Council consisting of five faculty members appointed by the principal. The chapter advisor is the
    sixth, non-voting, ex-officio member of the Faculty Council.
     
    Prior to the final selection, the following shall occur:
    a.  Students meeting the academic mininum and interested in NHS acceptance shall submit all required paperwork and signed Candidate Form by all established deadlines. The applicant is
         responsible for verifying the advisor has received all required paperwork.
    b.  All high school faculty members are invited to evaluate applicants should those applicants contact them for a reference. Applicants will be evaluated on the 4 NHS Virtues of Scholarship,
         Leadership, Character, and Service by the Faculty NHS Committee.
    c.  Before candidates are notified of selection or non-selection, the Principal reviews te recommendations of the voting Faculty Council. Once final approval has been granted by the Principal,
        candidates will be notified regarding status of membership by letter. The contents of the faculty evaulations, paperwork, and selection process are confidential.
    d. Appeals - Please contact the current NHS advisor to initiate the process.
