    I. LET’S KEEP IN TOUCH! 

     

    AGENDAS:  Starting with the third grade, students receive agendas from the school district. These will come home with the student each day with homework assignments listed. Please take time to make sure you are aware of what your child’s homework is, that they complete it, and sign the agenda where indicated. It will be your child’s responsibility to make sure you have seen their assignment and that you sign the agenda to indicate this. You may also use the agenda to communicate with me if you have a question or concern.

     

    CLASS DOJO: We will be using a program/app called Class Dojo for our classroom management. This app also provides and easy and more efficient way to communicate with parents than e-mail. I will post important messages, reminders and even pictures of what we are doing in school that you can access on your smartphone, if you have one. You can also access the program on a home computer. I am hoping for 100% participation on Class Dojo this year! I think you are going to like it!

     

    STUDENT DATA BINDERS:  Periodically, throughout the year, your child will bring home a communcation/date binder. This binder will contain items such as math assessments and will also be a place for your child to track their own progress with things such as math fact memorization, dojo points and assessment scores. When the binder comes home, please look through it and sign and date the cover pate to indicate you have seen the information it contains. From time to time, I may also write a comment about your child's progress at school. Please feel free to write your own comment no the work you see in the conder or communicate any concerns you may have to me. Students love it when you acknowledge their hard work! Hopefully this binder will give you a "heads up" on how your child is doing in math on a more frequent basis rather than simply at report card time. I feel it is important that students track their progress so that they are more aware of and take more ownership in how they are doing. 

     

    GREEN PARENT/TEACHER COMMUNICATOR FOLDERS: These are the same green vinyl folders your child has had from the school in the past. It should travel to and from school with your child each day. Your child should use this folder to bring in any notes from home and also to transport homework to and from school. Students will also put their mail in this folder, placing items to be kept at home in one pocket and items to be returned to school in the other.  The front of the folder will have your child’s specials schedule. PLEASE BE SURE TO LOOK OVER THE ITEMS IN THE GREEN FOLDER EVERY DAY! : )

     

    NEWSLETTERS:  Mrs. Baxter and I will be sending home newsletters on a weekly basis to keep you informed about what we are doing and about special events. These may be posted on Class Dojo instead if we get 100% of our students to sign up!
