• IV. GETTING INVOLVED

PARENT VOLUNTEERS: From time to time there will be opportunities for you to volunteer in the classroom. If you are thinking of volunteering please make sure you complete the district’s volunteer form and send it in to the office. This was sent to you as part of your child’s school year information. Copies may be obtained in the school office as well. Parents must be approved by the school board before volunteering.

PTO: Our school is very fortunate to have an active and successful PTO that supports both our students and teachers. Here are just some of the great events for which they are responsible: Scholastic Book Fairs, Sweetheart Dance, Bowling Night, 5th Grade Celebration, and much more! They meet once a month. Please consider joining this important organization that provides so much to our school community!

OCCUPATIONS: Each year we try to help students become aware of the many different occupations out there in the real world. It’s never too early for them to develop their interests for a future career or hobby. With that in mind, if you are enthusiastic about your occupation or a hobby and would like to help us learn more about it, please let me know. Hopefully we can arrange a convenient time for you to come in and share your expertise and enthusiasm!

SPECIAL INTERESTS/CULTURES: Our classroom will be holding parties for traditional holidays. However, I encourage any family that may recognize or celebrate other holidays to let me know. We would love to have you come visit our classroom to share and teach us more about special celebrations and traditions. I feel it’s important to celebrate the diversity we have here in our own community! As we will be studying different cultures from around the world this year, I encourage any family members who have traveled abroad to come in and share your travel experience. The students love having special visitors and they can learn so much from you!
